Sydney-based author Melina Marchetta is the bestselling author of ten novels, including the multi-award winning Looking For Alibrandi, Saving Francesca, and the 2009 Michael L Printz Award winner On the Jellicoe Road.
In 2011, her novel The Piper’s Son was longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Award.
Melina has also written a fantasy trilogy, The Lumatere Chronicles, as well as crime novel, Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil, which was released in 2016 to critical acclaim. Her work has been published in more than twenty countries and translated into 18 languages. She has also written award-winning screenplays and televisions scripts. This year she has released a new novel, The Place on Dalhousie.
Melina will be speaking in conversation with James Roy at Katoomba High School and will be hosting the workshop Writing Great Dialogue on Saturday 24th August. She will also be talking with James Valentine and Amy Thomas in her event On Writing, With Melina Marchetta at the Cultural Centre on Saturday 24th August.
