Cynthia Banham
Cynthia Banham is a writer, journalist and lawyer. She’s the author of three non-fiction books. A Certain Light: A Memoir of Family, Loss and Hope was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. Her most recent book is Mother Shadow: A Meditation on Maternal Inheritance. In a previous career she covered foreign affairs and defence for the Sydney Morning Herald in the Canberra Press Gallery.
One of Cynthia’s short stories was published in the UK literary magazine, Fictionable, and she is currently working on a historical novel. Cynthia has twice been awarded a Varuna Fellowship, most recently the Varuna Climate Fellowship. She has a Horticulture Certificate II and believes in the power of wilder gardens to inspire hope and agency in the face of our planet’s environmental crisis.
