Ingrid Horrocks


Ingrid Horrocks’ books span multiple genres and include Where We Swim, a blend of essay, family memoir, travel and climate writing, described by The Australian Book Review as a 'luminous work of wondrous depth'. Her fiction debut, All Her Lives: Nine Stories, will be released in New Zealand in October 2025, and in Australia in early 2026. Ingrid is also the author of a literary history, Women Wanderers and the Writing of Mobility, and two collections of poetry.  

Ingrid completed a PhD at Princeton and her writing has appeared in Lithub, The Ninth Letter, The Sydney Review of Books, The Spinoff and The Guardian. In 2024, she was the Kaituhi Tarāwhare Creative New Zealand Writer in Residence and in 2025, is the Varuna International Exchange New Zealand fellow. 

Ingrid teaches at the Faber Writing Academy at A&U and lives in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, with her partner and twin daughters.
