Melissa Phillips


Dr Melissa Phillips is Acting Director, Policy and Research at the Whitlam Institute and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences. A proud child of migrant parents, her research focuses on the multiple dimensions of migration, forced displacement and multiculturalism. Her work is deeply informed by her experience as a practitioner in the field; she has previously worked with international organisations in North and East Africa and the Middle East, with asylum seekers in immigration detention in Australia and managed a refugee resettlement project. Melissa is co-Managing Editor of the Journal of Intercultural Studies and is the author of multiple refereed journal articles and book chapters.
