Tegan Bennett Daylight

Tegan Bennett Daylight is a writer, teacher and critic who has published three novels, as well as several books for children and teenagers. Her collection of short stories, Six Bedrooms, was shortlisted for the ALS Gold Medal, the Steele Rudd Award and the 2016 Stella Prize. Her book of essays, The Details, was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Award for Non-Fiction.

Tegan’s latest books are the ROYALS series, about six Western Sydney teenagers (and a baby) who find themselves sent back to alternative universes: trapped alone in a time freeze in Penrith Plaza in Royals; and what it says on the box in How to Survive 1985, published this year by Simon & Schuster.

Royals was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Award for Young Adult Fiction, and the last book in the trilogy is being written right now. Tegan works as a lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Western Sydney University, and lives with her family on Darug/Gundungurra land in the Blue Mountains.
