Urgent and essential, we are privileged to witness Randa Abdel-Fattah and Antony Loewenstein discussing After Zionism, a collection that brings together some of the world's leading thinkers to dissect the century-long conflict between Zionism and the Palestinians, and explore possible forms of a one-state solution in the most conflicted part of the world.
The award-winning author of 11 novels, Randa Abdel-Fattah has worked as a lawyer, human rights advocate and community volunteer. Her latest novel Discipline brings these issues home to Australia, beginning with a Year 12 student from a Sydney Islamic college who is arrested for protesting a university’s ties to an Israeli weapons manufacturer. Antony Loewenstein is an investigative journalist, film-maker, and author of global bestseller The Palestine Laboratory and My Israel Question, among others. He is the co-editor, with Palestinian writer Ahmed Moor, of After Zionism.
Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah is an ARC Future Fellow at Macquarie University. She is also a former lawyer and the award-winning author of 12 books for children and young adults, which have been translated into over 13 languages. She has won and been shortlisted and longlisted for awards including the Australian Book Industry Award, the Australian Book of The Year Award, the Victorian and NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, the Stella Prize, the Children’s Book Council Award, Middle East Outreach Council USA and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Randa’s bilingual English and Arabic picture story book 11 Words for Love, illustrated by Maxine Beneba Clarke, was shortlisted for the 2023 Prime Minister's Literary Award. Her new novel is Discipline.
Antony Loewenstein is an independent journalist, bestselling author, filmmaker and co-founder of Declassified Australia. His books include the global bestseller, The Palestine Laboratory, which is also a podcast series. His documentary films include: Pills, Powder and Smoke; Disaster Capitalism; My Israel Question; After Zionism: One State for Israel and Palestine; and the Al Jazeera English films West Africa’s Opioid Crisis and Under the Cover of Covid.
