Tracing her Jewish German grandmother's path from pre-war Berlin through Palestine and Israel to Australia, in Raven Mother, acclaimed writer Jane Messer offers readers an extensively researched and deeply felt memoir.
Moving fluidly between personal memory, family history and wider history, the book confronts inherited trauma, identity and displacement with honesty and care, reminding readers how rarely our lives offer narrative simplicity. Don’t miss this considered and timely discussion with Eleanor Limprecht, complicating the assumptions we hold about motherhood and belonging.
Jane Messer is the accomplished writer of novels, short stories and essays. She is the founder and director of StorySALOON, a live show and podcast dedicated to Australian short stories. Her latest book is Raven Mother.
