How do you ignite adrenaline on the page? From gripping thrillers to madcap adventures, authors have long sought ways to get their readers’ eyes wide and heart pumping. Candice Fox, Patrick Marlborough and Walter Marsh all write about risky business, albeit in very different ways.
High Wire, Candice Fox’s latest breathtaking page-turner, is a high-octane race through the outback, another soon-to-be-bestseller from this prolific icon of crime; Walter Marsh’s The Butterfly Thief tells the story of the most audacious serial heist in the history of Australia’s museums — and the British gentleman adventurer who pulled it off; and, in Patrick Marlborough’s Nock Loose – the debut everyone’s talking about – we are led through a screwball comedy revenge thriller by our protagonist Joy, a gifted archer, retired Olympian and former stuntwoman.
An event for the truly adventurous, take a leap into the unknown with these three brilliant authors, skillfully piloted by host Beejay Silcox.
Candice Fox is the author of 11 crime novels and the winner of three prestigious Ned Kelly Awards. She has also co-written seven New York Times bestsellers with James Patterson, the world’s bestselling thriller writer. Candice’s novels Crimson Lake and Redemption Point were adapted into a major ABC TV series called Troppo.
Patrick Marlborough is an underemployed writer/comedian/musician/drongo living with their parents in Walyalup, Western Australia. They have been published in Vice, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, Slate, Gawker, Meanjin, Crikey, Kotaku, The Lifted Brow, Kill Your Darlings, Cordite, Going Down Swinging, and various other forgotten blogs, magazines, and anthologies.
Walter Marsh is a journalist based in Tarntanya/Adelaide, and the author of Young Rupert: the making of the Murdoch empire and The Butterfly Thief: adventure, empire, and Australia's greatest museum heist. His writing has also appeared in The Adelaide Review, The Guardian, The Monthly, The Saturday Paper, Crikey, The Age and Australian Book Review.
Beejay Silcox is a writer and book critic. Her work appears in high-profile publications across three continents and is renowned for its resolute (some might say, foolhardy) honesty. She has been described as “the most significant new Australian critic in decades”.
