Discover what it means to write kinship with the non-human world in this workshop with award-winning writer Dr Debra Dank. Take a slow wander to find new ways of thinking, and take the time to sketch, listen, discuss and observe.
Find new ways of relating to animals, plants, waters, soils and other living beings as more than objects or human conveniences. Consider how to use language to challenge and disrupt human-centred perspectives, and open possibilities for deeper environmental connections.
In this workshop, you will create short pieces that imagine relationships of care, reciprocity, responsibility and response-activity across species. Bring curiosity, attentiveness and a willingness to listen differently to the more-than-human world.
Dr Debra Dank is a Gudanji/Wakaja and Kalkadoon woman from the Barkly Tablelands in the Northern Territory and an Enterprise Fellow with the University of South Australia. She is the author of We Come with This Place, Terraglossia, and Ankami.
