Sweatshop is a nationally renowned literacy movement devoted to empowering diverse communities through reading, writing and critical thinking. In this workshop Dr Michael Mohammed Ahmad will take participants through the unique techniques and skill sets that have taken numerous Western Sydney writers from emerging hopefuls to Australia’s most celebrated authors, with a slew of awards under their collective belts.

Engage in critical reading and complete writing exercises focused on craft, form, linguistic diversity, cultural specificity, original use of voice, and the process of drafting and redrafting a written work for publication.

Michael Mohammed Ahmad is the founding director of Sweatshop Literacy Movement and the author of The Tribe, The Lebs and The Other Half of You. His latest novel is Bugger.
